Is It the PSU? Common Symptoms

A failing mining power supply often looks like a hashboard or control board fault. These are the signs that point at the PSU instead:

  • The miner does not power on at all — no fan movement, no relay click after AC is connected
  • The control board never receives stable auxiliary power, so the miner appears completely dead
  • The miner boots and the web interface is reachable, but hashboards fail to start when the PSU ramps its main output
  • Log messages such as “power voltage can not meet the target” or “get power type version failed”
  • The PSU shuts down under load, trips protection, or restarts during miner initialization
  • Burnt smell, a damaged connector, heat discoloration, or fan and airflow failure inside the unit

A weak PSU is one of the easiest faults to misdiagnose: the miner reports voltage target failures or chain startup problems, and the boards get blamed for it.

PSU Board Repair or a Replacement Unit?

Most mining PSU faults live on the board inside the unit — the input front-end stage, the auxiliary rail, or the main output stage. Those we repair at component level rather than swapping the whole power supply.

Replacement makes more sense when there is severe burn damage, destroyed PCB sections, or transformer-level failure. We evaluate which way is worth doing after intake and before any work starts, so you are not paying to repair a unit that should be replaced.

Note that we do not sell DIY repair kits or loose PSU components — the repair is done in our lab, and what ships back is a tested unit.
