Collection: Antminer Z Series Hashboard Repair

Antminer Z series miners are Bitmain's Equihash machines for Zcash, and we repair their hashboards from the Z9 of 2018 onward. The label on the miner gives the model and its rated output in KSol/s. A board already out of its miner is identified by the marking printed on it and by the chip count the miner reported for it.

Antminer Z series hashboard repair is component-level work on the boards of Bitmain's Equihash line, done at our USA-based lab. Each page below is written for one model and nothing else: the readings its status page gives when a board fails, how its boards are diagnosed and proven under load, and whether the board alone or the complete miner should come in.

Which Antminer Z series model do you have?

A board that shows fewer chips than its row gives, or that has dropped out of the miner's list altogether, is the board with the fault. What that reading means on each model is explained on the model's own page.

What every Z series machine has in common

All of these machines mine Zcash on the Equihash algorithm, and each carries three hashboards, so one board is roughly a third of the rated output. The status page lists the boards as three chains with a chip count against each, which is how the failed board is found without opening the case. What a short count means is not the same from one model to the next, and that difference is what each model's page is for.

Not a Z series hashboard?

Bitmain's other non-Bitcoin machines, the Kaspa, Kadena, Dash and Decred models among them, are routed on Antminer altcoin hashboard repair. A Z series miner that never appears on the network, or gives no web interface at all, is most often a control board or network matter rather than a hashboard one, and that case starts at Antminer control board types and replacement.

The Z9 and Z9 mini are repaired here as well, though neither has a page of its own yet. For those, and for any Z series machine missing from the table, send us the label and the status page before shipping and we will tell you what the repair involves.
